Trade Dollars
The American Dollar Coin websites features a large selection of Trade Dollars listed for sale with new items added daily. Beginning production in 1873, the coin was designed by the Chief Engraver at the United States Mint, William Barber. Originally put into production by the U.S. Government as a means of creating a silver bullion coin that would be readily accepted by other countries (primarily Asian nations), where previously the Mexican Peso was the favored coin of traders. The Trade Dollar remained in production until 1885, and has become a favorite of coin collectors across America.
